We are a canoe hire company based at the Wingfield caravan park at Montford Bridge just outside Shrewsbury and although our main operations base is the River Severn we are proud to be able to offer canoe hire in a variety of locations across the UK & Europe.


Established in 2014 we have provided some of the best River Severn canoe hire to over 6,500 happy customers across the UK and we believe that all

Our fleet of 40 Canadian style canoes, single kayaks, double kayaks and stand up paddle boards are modern, safe, clean and well maintained. Our equipment is available to hire along the full length of the navigable and non-tidal River Severn Our Buoyancy aids are kept clean and renewed and safety tested on a regular basis to ensure they are fit for purpose, clean and comfy. Our paddles come in a variety of sizes to ensure the maximum possible comfort for all adults and children.

She is the star of the show and keeps us in check although hold on tight as she has just passed her Minibus test! which is a relief as she made a bit of a mess of the paperwork.



Our UKCC level 2 canoe, kayak & SUP coach who also loves all kinds of expeditions, he enjoys tea and custard creams, preferably dunked.



Alex is a ski instructor during the winter but as the snow melts he becomes Canoe & Kayak mad and is a UKCC Level 1 Canoe, Kayak and SUP coach. Alex enjoys a strong coffee and any time spent in the outdoors.

Environmental policy

At Hire a Canoe Ltd we are  passionate about the environment and doing our best to reduce our impact. Whilst there are some aspects our our business we cannot change such as the use of minibuses and plastic equipment. We have highlighted a few schemes that starting this season we will be promoting.

  • Free tea or coffee for anyone who brings their own cup (we will no longer provide paper or plastic cups)

  • Free refills for reuseable water bottles

  • an annual litter pick to help remove litter from the river.

  • where possible we buy kayaks made from recycled plastics.

  • Solar power used for lighting at HQ
